Acceptable Book
Is this acceptable when beginning a story?
Alright, so I’m writing a novel. I currently have the entire thing outlined and the preface and first two chapters written. However, I wrote the preface in first person view and the rest in third person, all from the point of view of my main character. I feel that it adds depth to the story. I’ll be sticking with 3rd person for the rest of the book. Is this acceptable or not?
Oh, I’ve seen books that switch constantly from first to various third person perspectives, and one book didn’t even reveal its narrator until the end!
Have fun with perspective, it can either make or break a book, and feel free to expand your horizons and test out some maybe not so normal perspectives, even if you’re just fooling around.
Your prologue sounds excellent, I don’t see any problem with that at all. It seems like it would be a good way for the reader to get introduced to the novel.
