Take A Visit To The Farm On London Holidays

Holidays in London don’t have to be fine-dining mixed in with clubs and restaurants, as the capital is also home to a series of animal farms. There are a multitude of animals at these farms, which will catch the imagination of old and young alike. Trips to these farms are included in many holiday deals, but finding the best one can sometimes be tricky.

Inhabiting Belmont Children’s Farm is a horde of animals, with pheasants, pigs, ponies and wallabies among the 30 different species housed here. Meeting the animals, feeding them and enjoying tractor rides are some of the main activities available to keep the young occupied. Easily accessible, Belmont Children’s Farm is located close by to the Mill Hill East tube station on the Northern Line.

A registered charity, Vauxhall City Farm is free to visit and open all year round. It is well known for providing a home to the endangered rare sheep breed and houses a number of other species. Alongside this endangered species, pigs, cows, goats and rabbits are there for visitors to mix with. There is the chance to get involved to a greater degree for those on longer holidays and take on a one-week work placement, as the farm relies on volunteers in order to maintain it.

A local community project, Kentish Town Farm seeks to bring a touch of the wild to Camden with many classic farm animals on display. There are numerous activities that entertain children, with pigs, sheep and cows making for an invitingly child-friendly environment, while parents can meander along Camden’s world famous lock. These activities include horse riding, and for the younger children assisted pony rides, as well as organized art and dance classes.

There are a number of hotels for those not on package holidays and The Holiday Inn, located along Camden Lock, mixes reasonable pricing with a superb location, especially for those wishing to visit the farm.

Animal Farm [VHS]

After the technical achievement of Babe, it was inevitable that “talking animal” effects would be applied to the serious themes of George Orwell’s Animal Farm. A bitterly satirical indictment of Stalinist Russia and the failure of Communism, Orwell’s 1945 novel is a time-honored classic, so it’s only fitting that this TNT production remains largely faithful to Orwell’s potent narrative. A showcase…
