What type of product can I use to waterproof an antique dresser top I am using for a bath vanity?
I am using a antique french provencial dresser for the base of a vessel sink in my bath. What type of of product would be good for waterproofing, scratch resistant, and will not change the color of the wood? I live in Portland, Oregon so if you know of dealer that would be great too.

Well, it depends on what sealer is already on the wood. If it is an oil-based sealer, you’ll need to use an oil-based sealer coating. You can get this at any paint store. It’ll waterproof your wood pretty much and will protect against scratches. I do however suggest that you coat the entire surface, not just the top. Use a clear sealer so the color stays the same.
But just a thought…. have you thought about going to a stone mason or wherever they sell marble. If your dresser is small enough, you can get a remnant for a relatively good price and have a marble top made for it….
