Arthurs Court

A True Love That Can Happen
True love is something that will occur whatever the circumstances of the situation. Whether or not you are a poor beggar boy running after the centre of a princess, a noble and bold Knight massively crazy about the queen that you have promised protection to, or whether your families are hated enemies of each other, it’s actually possible for love to take root and blossom.
It also may be the simple attraction to what we will not have, the banned. Without reference to the reason, love of these kinds has spawned off wonderful and inspiring stories. Stories about such couples as Aladdin, Sir Lancelot, Romeo and their beautiful women have all helped keep the dream alive. It’s the dream that love, though prohibited, or seemly very unlikely, with great sacrifice is realizable.
‘I can show you the world shining, glistening, and wonderful. Let me know princess, when was the last time you let your heart decide?’ Aladdin and Jasmine will forever be recalled by their enchanting carpet ride across the night sky, thru the clouds, and over the lighted desert town of Agra bah. This Middle-Eastern based love is only a cartoon; however it does illustrate obviously the side of prohibited love. Aladdin, a poor beggar boy from the roads of Agra bah, wished to demonstrate to everybody that he was way more than what they believed he was, a ‘street rat.’ One day, he helped a young girl in the market and he started to fall completely in love with her, not realizing her true identity at the start.
The young girl in reality is the princess of his dominion, Princess Jasmine, and fortuitously for him she returned his love. Though the princess could only marry a royal suitor, Aladdin believed that sometime he would be well placed to have his princess. As chance would have it, a puzzling old man took him to the fantastic Cavern of Wonders, looking for a miraculous lamp. Aladdin used this lamp to free the genie within. With some help from the genie, Aladdin was in a position to save his dominion from upcoming doom. This act off goodness satisfied the Sultan that Aladdin was a deserving suitor for his child Jasmine. King, Queens, and Knights in dazzling armour are all a great epic love should be successful. One such story is that of Sir Lancelot and his love affair with the queen he swore protection to, Queen Guinevere. Guinevere was the beloved queen of King Arthur, the originator of Camelot. As the champ of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere and premiere Knight of Arthur’s court, Lancelot was an irresistible soldier.
He hardly ever met defeat and quickly defeated all comers in or out of armour and without reference to the number of his enemies.
Nevertheless he was defeated, but only by the power of love. He wasn’t able to regulate his love for the queen of Camelot and she returned his love, making it tougher for either of them to reject it. They felt this love so strongly for one another they were prepared to destroy all that King Arthur had worked for during his whole life, just so they may be together. Lancelot was Arthur’s best buddy and most trusted knight, and Guinevere was his better half and his queen, yet they continued their relationship together. Camelot slipped, as they knew it might, and feeling the guilt of it, Guinevere and Lancelot decided they must separate. Lancelot turned into a priest and lived as a penitent till his demise, and Guinevere did nearly the same. She went to a priory spending the remainder of her life in repentance and serving God, wanting clemency for what she and Lancelot had done. An unlucky end to such a romance, but a tragedy like this immortalizes the story for all of history and the days that predate it. ‘Oh Romeo, Romeo.
Wherefore art thou Romeo? Reject thy father and refuse thy name or if thou shrivel not, be but sworn my love and I’ll not be a Capulet. This only thy name that’s my enemy. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.’ Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet must be the most renowned romantic couple ever. Their love was prohibited by social standing. Their families did more than not approve of their love for one another, the Montague’s and the Capulet’s were archenemies. Although centuries of hate ran thru their blood, the love of their hearts cleaned the loathing with each beat. It is gloomy their lives wouldn’t last so long as their love. Romeo, hearing that Juliet was dead, went to see for himself and he found it to be right. He shortly rubbed out himself beside her body, not desiring to live another moment on this earth without his dear Juliet. After his death Juliet awoke from her prompted comatose-like sleep to find Romeo committed suicide as he thought she was truly dead. Juliet, overpowered with remorse for causing the demise of her lover, finished herself also. Both Romeo and Juliet select not to live life without the other. These stories are just a few examples of prohibited love. It isn’t that clear whether any of these stories are fiction or non-fiction, but one thing is sure, many individuals experience banned love like this.
Love finds a way and with that thought can’t be erased by laws or rules. It’s the fabric that never fades, regardless of how often it is washed in the waters of grief. Love is the power that incentivizes hope, and hope is what makes us live today as if tomorrow were yesterday. Aladdin and Jasmine, Sir Lancelot and Woman Guinevere, and Romeo and Juliet all saw this and chased their love and showed that even the most prohibited of loves is possible so long as they’re ready to sacrifice.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court [VHS] $12.73 A half-century later, Mark Twain’s yarn still doesn’t seem like an ideal vehicle for Bing Crosby, and Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke certainly wrote better songs than those offered up here.
