Books Set

What are some good fiction books set in the middle ages?
I’ve heard that Avi has some good historical fiction books, but are any of them set in the middle ages? I thought I saw someone in my class (this is for a book report) with the book Crispin… is that a good book?
I prefer that it isn’t mystery. Historical fiction with some fantasy is my favorite kind, but I don’t mind if it is realistic or something.
Thanks!
I don’t know about Avi or Crispin, but a “Katherine” by Anya Seton is one of those much-loved books by all.
It’s a “true” story of how Katherine de Roet, later Swynford, becomes the mistress of John of Gaunt. They have a family together and marry later, their children becoming the ancestors of many of the monarchs of England.
Katherine was the sister of Philippa, who married the poet Chaucer.
It’s a lovely, romantic book, and tells much of life in the 14th century.

Otherwise, much fantasy fiction is based on medieval life. You could try David Eddings’ series “The Belgariad”, which takes place in a world full of different countries, all of which have their own description and identity. One country is particularly middle ages in its way of life and manners. It’s quite exciting, with a “quest” – funny in a great part and a fun read.

Then there’s “Timeline” by Michael Crichton, which is a time-travel book involving the middle ages.
