Bysshe Shelley

Bysshe Shelley
“Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world.” By: Bysshe Shelley?

i wonder what the poet means in her quote. like if you could tell something about the poet based on her quote. or who is she addressing. and like what is the poets personal feelings i need help please help me

Her quote? Shelley wasn’t a girl.

Legislator means ‘lawmaker’ – so this statement means that Shelley believes that poets create laws, but without the world being aware of this. He doesn’t actually mean they make the laws, but that the words of poets have great influence on the thoughts and beliefs of those that do. He also says that this role is unacknowledged – so poets don’t get any praise or recompense for what they do.

Can’t say I believe either of these statements.
