Carl Hiaasen

What is the significance of the title of the book Hoot, by Carl Hiaasen?
In my opinion, I think it has a dual meaning.
1) Hoot as in the sound that owls make. So it relates to the story, which is about saving the owls.
2) I think the other meaning of Hoot is because the people didn’t care about building a pancake house there, whether there were owls or not. So basically they didn’t give a “hoot” about the situation.
