Christian School
Private Christian school for an agnostic with atheistic tendencies?
My parents are considering sending me to a private school, the only problem is, all of the private schools around here claim to be based off of a ‘Christian curriculum’. As someone not familiar with the environment within Christian schools, to what degree (in general) does this philosophy influence the educational aspect of the school? It’s not that I am concerned with trivial things and details (such as integrated prayer, etc) but to what degree is the curriculum biased?
It REALLY depends on the type of Christian school.
For instance, I went to a Southern Baptist school who had the cliche fundamentalist views. The environment was great, less drugs and excessive drinking and so was the education until you got to certain issues. Issue like politics or the mere mentioning of another deity could result into a huge religious debate. You would also be forced to attend a weekly service where their views were forced on you, after a Bible class every day.
