A world wide famous music that comes from Spain is Flamenco which a lot of people believed it is widely spread all throughout Spain. Contrary to popular belief, Flamenco is only famous to one of Spain’s regions; it originated from Andalusia, an autonomous community in Spain and is seen as the second most massive in terms of land area in the country. Most people are not familiar with the fact that Flamenco was not really acknowledged as a popular music and dance form before, and a lot of the information found about the Flamenco can be shown by by its troubled history.

The inhabitants of Andalusia who were also supporters of the art form did not acquire much education and had no way of recording their own history; most were Jews, Moors and the likes who were, like Gypsies, regarded to be parts of the lower class of Spanish society. Another major factor why it’s difficult to locate its beginnings is because the poor people who practiced the music only preserved the art by oral traditions because they are illiterate and does not know how to write; in addition to that the poor people during those times were being persecuted during the Spanish Inquisition in 1492.
Historians and other experts up to this generation are finding out the exact history and ancestry of Flamenco. However one reality stays the same; it has affected dance cultures all around the world.
