Do you have an auctioneers & valuers in your local area who hold valuation days ? If so, you can take along items to have them valued (sometimes there is a small fee but often it is free).
There are also books available in the public library such as Millers Guide to Collectables (non-fiction 745.9) which you can consult. These also give you an estimated value of souveniers.
