Do you think country club prisons deter crime?
no but which of these prisons resembles a country club.. deterrence usually instills itself through laws and regulation rather than actual physical buildings..
for instance..
3 strikes your out type of penalty (California has one) where after your 3rd felony you are prisoned in life regardless if it was violent or not.. this harsh penalty is suppose to affect repeat offenders and deter them from future criminal actions
prison systems are a result not necessarily a retribution styled purpose
