Problems With the Jewish Dictionary
You are probably as confused as I am with the Hebrew language. One of the confusing things is the direction with which it is written and another is that a different alphabet is used.
What this means is that not only can you not speak it or read it but that you can not even pronounce it if you don’t know the language already.
This is where a Hebrew or a Jewish Dictionary comes into use because it means that you can find out exactly what the correct words are when you are translating either from English to Hebrew or Vice-Versa.
Although there are many different Jewish dictionaries online, it is important that you find a Hebrew one that you feel comfortable with.
For example, are you presented with the Hebrew word both in English and in Hebrew if you find it difficult to read Hebrew?
It is important that you discover whether the dictionary which you want to use actually contains enough words to make it useful.
You can often find this out by typing some fairly unusual words into it and seeing if it gives you an answer. If it doesn’t, then there is a good chance that in the future when you urgently need some more help, that you will once again be at a loss so it would be better now to find a dictionary which really suits you well rather than when you are in a hurry.
Hebrew is a bit of a funny language but at the end of the day it is the language of the bible, so it is probably worth learning to read it if it is something that you are often going to use and ofcourse if you live in a country where the only language is Hebrew then it is even more important.
