Are favourites more likely to win the Grand National?
Obviously the chance of the #1 favourite is small, but do horses which have the shortest odds historically more likely to win the Grand National? Or does history tell us that the odds have little impact on the outcome?
Only five out of the last 20 winners have favoritesrites, a horses odds reflect the amount of money which has been wagered on it and therefore the bookmakers liability, so if all the once a year betting housewives put their quid each way on Tony McCoy’s mount because he won Sport Personality Of The Year then its price will shorten.
The likely fav this year , Don’t Push It has a little too much weight imo but still has a great chance.
