Guitar for Beginners – Learn the Basics
1024×768 Normal 0
Everybody dreams of being a rockstar on-stage. Such a grand image it is of being up on a stage with a roaring crowd who sings along as you play. Imagine the excitement of a special effects light show or a multi-media show behind the stage as the band plays. Yes, it’s an enviable life that famous musicians seem to lead. You will have to do some work before you can really “play” an instrument. Before you can even go up there on that stage and trade places with Slash, Coldplay, or Santana, there’s lots you’ll have to learn. You have to start with guitar for beginners.
The guitar has been popular for a long time and is still a first choice with many aspiring musicians who hope for the chance to someday perform for others. Many guitar players (and music lovers) have dreams of being a star. Guitars are ideal for playing many types of music genres such as pop, rock, jazz, blues and folk. One of the reasons for the guitar’s popularity is the fact that it can be carried so easily to any location. You can’t easily haul around a drum set or a piano to be able to play them wherever you would like.
Basic Strumming
In playing the guitar, there are a few beginner guitar basics to remember. One of the first guitar lessons you take should include how to strum. To make the notes and chords ring out like your guitar heros do, keep your fingernails trimmed. Keeping the fingernails of one hand trimmed helps you have better leverage as you press the strings down. That is only one tiny part of learning; there are many more aspects of playing electric or acoustic guitar that you’ll have to be familiar with.
For example, can you identify and name all the parts of the guitar? Start out by knowing about the guitar body and the guitar strings. Then there are other parts such as the neck, the tuning pegs, and the headstock. Normally, guitars have six strings, with each string having a different size and note value. The lowest string is thicker and produces a lower note, while the string at the bottom (if you are holding the guitar in your lap) sounds higher. The neck of the guitar is divided into segments called frets and of course, there are the strings. You could start getting acquainted with all you need to play the guitar by taking a guitar lessons for beginners course.
Learning the parts of the guitar is just the beginning
Knowing the parts of your guitar is just one thing. The way you hold the guitar is also very important in becoming better at playing the guitar. You’ll have to learn to tune your guitar and keep it tuned. Adjusing the pitch of the sound on a guitar is done by increased or decreased tension of the strings when you tune it. You can learn to tune the guitar to itself (by getting just one correct note first). You can listen to the notes for tuning the guitar strings by using an electronic tuner, on the internet, or you can use another instrument such as the piano. Playing scales is a bit more advanced, so first learn to play some notes and learn to play guitar chords. Indeed, there are a lot of beginner guitar basics required to learn and master guitar playing.
To become an electric or acoustic guitar player and to be good enough to please an audience involves more than just learning a few songs and chords, but to just learn to play for fun it doesn’t have to be really complicated. You’re on your way to living your dreams when you start with these beginner guitar basics!
