Henry Viii

Would Henry VIII have broken from the church if the Reformation on the continent had not occurred?
We’ve begun studying this time period in school and i was wondering what peoples opinions and reasoning’s are on these questions. Would Henry VIII have broken from the church if the Reformation on the continent had not occurred? Would he have been successful if the Reformation on the continent had not happened?
For me Henry was always more interrested in power and getting an heir then in religious questions. I think he would have moved heaven and hell to get what he wanted. If the reformation would not have happened, that for sure gave him an easy way to solve his problems, his first wife would have fallen down the stairs or something.
