Hermann Hesse

Hermann Hesse
What is a common connection between Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse and Meursault in Albert Camus’ The Stranger?

I need to write about existentialism in this as well and how it relates to both stories? thanks. 10pts.

One became a Buddhist ( well ok, he was the Buddha) and the other became a murderer. Neither seemed to realise what most folk don’t need to think about; that life is for living, for getting on with the next thing. Instead they wallow in fringes of the self indulgent black hole of “What is the meaning of life?” One starts killing innocents to see if that will give him some direction while the other becomes a fat pompous guru, living off the toil of those who are living their lives.
And both authors sympathise with their characters. Which is why I won’t read any more of their drivel ( though I probably read just about everything they wrote 40 years ago – must have been a young persons thing.)
