Jacob Abbott

Jacob Abbott
How does these names sound for my characters?

I’m writing a story and I’m not 100% sure if the names flow. The story is about a girl who moves to a new school in a new country and has no concept of the language. I’m not going to give much more than that.

Main character: Heidi Elsie Boden (quiet, shy, intelligent, selfless, seems geeky)
Twin brother: Johannes Claus Boden (out going, loud, not as bright as his twin, slightly self centred and brave)
Younger half sister: Hannah Louise Abbott (loud, intelligent, out going and musically talented)

Mum: Annalise Marie Abbott (nee Boden)
Step dad: Jacob Alexaner Abbott

People from the school: Claire Louise Brooks (Mean girl, popular, sneaky, snobby, self centered and materalistic)
Maria Rose Babington (mean girl, popular, easily manpiulated)
Oliver Rain Avery (Geeky type guy, skinny, selfless and average looking)
Alexander Daniel Chase (Jock type guy, good looking, selfish, mean and not very bright)

I think I have everyone covered.

I think these names are all fine, I especially like how the younger sister has a typically ‘English/American’ first name to further illustrate how she has a different father to the twins, whose names sound Scandinavian (?).

Having said that, I’d be tempted to change Hannah (Louise) Abbott, because there is already a Hannah Abbott in the famous Harry Potter series.

Are all the middle names actually going to be disclosed in the story? I think it’s good that you’ve gone into so much depth anyway :) I hope you put similar depth into your characters too, because ‘loud’, ‘quiet’, ‘mean’ and ‘geeky’ etc are quite extreme terms. Perhaps they all have other sides and quirks to them too?

Good luck with the story :)
