City Breaks In Cambridge, England And Some Facts You Need To Know
The university town of Cambridge is known across the globe for being home to the University of Cambridge, one of the world’s finest centres of learning. The University includes some 31 colleges including; Christ’s College, Churchill College, Clare College, Clare Hall and Corpus Christi College which greatly effect the city. Even though many people arrive at Cambridge in order to view the University, Cambridge has many more attractions well worth a visit other than the colleges of the University. Fortunately there are a large number of Cambridge bed and breakfast to choose from (Important: for more information see bottom of article).
The city dates back to the medieval period and subsequently there there are numerous fine examples of fantastic architecture. You may stroll through the ancient streets, enjoy one of the various parks and gardens or even take a punt up and down the River Cam. If the thought of going punting is appealing, then one should hire a punt or for something a little different one can hire a chauffeured punt. There are numerous organisations offering this service along the River Cam. Another idea is a small journey up and down the River Cam in a narrow boat.
Cambridge is also well known for its churches, 13 of which are found within Cambridge’s confines. Of the thirteen churches located in Cambridge town centre it is All Saints Church which is one of the most fine examples of Gothic revival architecture to be found in the country. Another church which you simply must get to see is Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which is one of only 4 circular Norman churches located in England. The smallest of Cambridge’s churches is the Church of St Peter’s, which hides in a quiet part of the town. Possibly the finest panoramas across the city of Cambridge and University colleges are to be experienced from the viewpoint of the University church, the Great St Mary’s Church.
As there is such a vast collection of visitor attractions available in Cambridge, it would be impossible to see them all in just twenty four hours. We therefore strongly advise that you stay for at least two days in Cambridge. If you are in the process of thinking about spending a few days in Cambridge it is incredibly important that you book your accommodation as early as possible as, unfortunately hotels and guest houses in Cambridge tend to be amazingly busy and are commonly fully booked for months in advance. If you are travelling in a large group you might find that Cambridge apartment accommodation are a less expensive option.

Les Miserables Original London Cast $16.57 This recording captures the 1985 London cast that transformed an obscure French musical based on Victor Hugo’s gargantuan novel of pre-Revolutionary France into a worldwide phenomenon throughout the late-’80s and ’90s and became one of the best examples of the era’s trend of blockbuster musical spectacles. Yes, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schoenberg’s score tends to recycle its themes, but the… |

Blazing Saddles (30th Anniversary Special Edition) $3.24 Mel Brooks scored his first commercial hit with this raucous Western spoof starring the late Cleavon Little as the newly hired (and conspicuously black) sheriff of Rock Ridge. Sheriff Bart teams up with deputy Jim (Gene Wilder) to foil the railroad-building scheme of the nefarious Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Korman). The simple plot is just an excuse for a steady stream of gags, many of them unabashedly… |
