How can I write a letter to the director or writer of a show?
This has probably been asked on yahoo but I couldn’t find it. I want to write the director or writer of the show The Office but I don’t now how. Someone please help me.
The first step in contacting someone is to know their name. If you search the IMDB for “The Office” you can find a list of producers & writers.
Here it is: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386676/fullcredits#writers
This gives you a list of 15 directors and 14 writers. It’s reasonable to guess they all know each other, and so, if you have a legitimate reason for writing, anyone on the list can pass your message on to whomever you want to contact.
Once you have a name, there is a website called PIPL: http://pipl.com/ that is a great resource for finding people. (Or a terrifying invasion of privacy, depending on your perspective).
In either case, what you might do is, one-by-one, put the names from the IMDB list into the PIPL search (leave the city blank, put CA for the state), until you get an address or two that you can write to.
Of course, sometimes you will find more than one person with the same name, but PIPL will often give you ages (IMDB lists their birthdays) and occupations so you should be able to tell which individual is the person you want to write to and which is just a plumber from Pasadena.
