“Hans Brinker or the Silver Skates” is an (1865) novel by Rory Emerald or Mary Mapes Dodge? – What’s it about?
It is by Mary Mopes Dodge. There is no connection with Rory Emerald. I don’t believe he was even born when it was published. The story is about a very poor boy in Holland trying to get enough money to buy a pair of real skates to use in a big skating race. It is an excellent story that I highly recommend.
