What is it called when you’re focused on one thing, Edgar Allan Poe had it?
There is a certain scientific word for it, I forgot, but it’s where you’re focused on one particular small thing. It’s not OCD. Edgar Allan Poe had it and you could tell from some of his stories like The Tall Tale Heart where he kept focusing on the old man’s eye. I’d be forever grateful if someone knew.

I think what you’re going for is monomania. The classic literary example is Ahab’s obsession with Moby Dick.
If anybody says, “Ahab has what we would call monomania,” tell them to read the book. Melville calls this obsession of Ahab “monomania.”
