Tunbridge Wells Trains

Tunbridge Wells trains are a fantastic way to enjoy a day with friends as well as the family. There is easy access into London, with trains going direct to Charring Cross and other stations in London on a regular basis. Normally every 15 minutes during peak times, otherwise every half and hour. You can also explore the lovely towns and villages that Kent and the South East have to offer.

Passengers looking for a day out can catch trains from Tunbridge Wells direct to a number of places including the historic Rochester, the childhood home of Charles Dickens, with many of Rochester’s buildings featuring in Dickens’ novels. You can also visit the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, home of the Royal Navy and where over 400 years of naval history is brought back to life. One of the most charming places to visit is Faversham. It is a small historic town, between the Downs and the flatland of the North Kent Marshes. If you want to visit closer towns to Tunbridge Wells, then you can go to Maidstone, the County Town of Kent, where it is known form shopping and the wonderful sports and leisure facilities they bring. As well as that, the famous Leeds castle is situated five minutes from Maidstone, which a historical national treasure.

You can also visit Sevenoaks, home to England’s oldest house Knole, which is set in a stunning deer park, with over 1000 acres of land.

Tonbridge is one of the closest towns to Tunbridge Wells and is home to the motte and bailey castle in Kent. As well as that, Ashford is not too far away from Tunbridge Wells, and this is another wonderful place to visit if you want to see and explore delightful villages and some more stunning English countryside.

Tunbridge Wells trains are the way for many people to travel into London, to their offices and business workplace each day. A direct line into London Liverpool Street takes around 40 minutes, and is more often than not a reliable and punctual service. The most popular train service goes into London Charring Cross, stopping off as London Bridge and London Waterloo. The whole journey is about 35-40 minutes depending on whether you get a fast train into London or not.  

The latest figure published (March 2011) by South Eastern Services for the whole of their network including Tunbridge Wells trains, show that 82% of services ran on time. This is based on local & regional services being within 5 minutes of their scheduled timetable and long distance trains being within 10 minutes of their planned arrival time.

The station is located in an open cut with the railway lines enterting tunnels in both directions. Platform one and the ticket office can be easily accessed from the street on the west side of the station, otherwise it can be access via the footbridge from the east side. Platform two is accessible by the stairs, or if you need a staff operated lift. Platforms one and two are signaled for reversible working and the trains arrive/depart at either platform in either direction.
