Old World
How do you paint a room to resemble an old-world, fresco style?
I want to paint a bedroom so that it looks like the tavern in Tortuga in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. It looks very old-world, fresco-y, the walls have the appearence of water leakage (it looks like water damage or some other thing is dripping down the walls). The base color is like a yellow-brown, and I’ve seen some houses that have had this treatment. Any help on this matter is GREATLY appreciated! that’s called a venetian plaster finish. very easy to do bc it’s not perfect. spread plaster over the wall with a big spreader in random strokes and let it dry. then you add glaze to your paint colour and paint away. if you want that two tone look, do the first coat in the yellow, second coat in the brown (easy on the brown, you don’t want to completely cover the yellow). during the painting process for each coat, use a clean dry cloth to “rub” the paint into the wall. the glaze makes the paint take longer to dry and easier to work with. play around with it till you like the look. the plaster and the glaze should be at your local hardware store. have fun!
