What kind of diseases can paper money carry?
I was just reading an article on the main yahoo page about a study done in Switzerland about how paper money can carry the flu virus for up to 16 days. I wanted to know what other kind of diseases can paper money carry and for how long.
While money can carry germ, there no way near as harmful as the first person stated. Microbiology is my favorite unit at uni included. For one virus need a living host to survive, put the money in your pocket and if it were carrying the HIV virus it would die within hours, much the same for other viruses.
And think about it, money unless used inappropriately is passed from hand to hand, so it will have normal healthy microbe, plus some little nasties, however there has to be a substantial number of little nasties for you to get sick and makes it way past your primary and secondary immune system barriers, i.e skin and then saliva of the mouth etc
To get e-coli poisoning, the money would have to be place in something which could exponentiate its growth, such as a left over which have been sitting in a corner for some time.
It’s nearly impossible to get any infection or virus from handling money, if anything if your very hygienic the minute you get sick, you’ll get very sick and not only that your at greater rick of auto-immune diseases and asthma.
I hear you stella, people are paranoid about nothing. Doesn’t anyone wonder why there are increase numbers of children suffering from asthma, more people having chrones disease, IBS and etc, its because people are going over the top with there hygiene, even carry around antiseptic hand lotion, OMG. When my son was younger I let him play in the dirt, he doesn’t have asthma, skin problems or anything physically wrong with him, that he wasn’t born with.
