As for the Sandman novels..I read them all..Neil Gaiman rules!
If you like Stephen King and Peter Straub, you will definitely enjoy Robert McCammon. Start with his Swan Song; another good one of his is A Boy’s Life.
One of the best Action/Suspense authors around is a pair called Douglas Preston and Lincoln Childs who write together some of the best books out there. Some of the books are Still Life with Crows, Cabinet of Curiosities, Wheel of Darkness, Book of the Dead, Dance of Death. Their main character is Agent Pendergast – the most unusual,action figure/ protaganist you will ever, ever come across. You cannot go through your life without being introduced to Pendergast!
