Baby Browning? Legal in Ca? Decent gun?
I was looking for a pocket pistol but still love the classics. I didn’t know anything about the baby browning but I’m interested in one.
First, are these still a viable pocket pistol? Quality?
Second, are these legal in california to purchase off gunsamerica.com?
I have not shot a Baby Browning nor know anyone who has one so I can’t comment on the gun itself. In California the only way you would be able to legally purchase one would be to do a private party transfer or buy one on consignment from a local dealer where you end up doing a private party transfer. All handguns bought here from a dealer or from a dealer or private party out of state have to be on the Ca DOJ handgun roster and shipped to your local ffl. Seeing that the Baby Browning hasn’t been produced in quite some time and it’s not on the list, your only hope is finding a used one locally. I would do a advanced search on Gunbroker, Gunsamerica or Auction Arms for a Baby Browning selecting California as the state where the seller is located. If you find a private party who is selling one you could ask them if they would do the transfer at a local dealer or ffl. The link that Tahoeguy gave is the doj’s list so you can check to see if you can purchase a different handgun here or not. If it is on the list you can buy it online or at a local dealer, just take into account that if you do buy it online you will need to pay the transfer fees at a local ffl which run between $50-$75 or so. You will need to do your homework to make sure you are getting a good deal and not overpaying. To sum it up a handgun has to be on the doj list so you would not be able to purchase the Baby Browning online.Good luck on your quest, the gun laws here suck. Here’s the link again:
