Can I mount an antique cannon on my boat?
I have a chance to buy a lovely little Civil War cannon that just looks so quaint. However, with a charge of black powder it can fire a three inch ball that would vaporize any pirate vessel floating around today from more than a mile off.
Is it legal to have a quaint antique cannon on board a vessel traveling in international waters?
Well, the International Declaration of Human Rights ensures you have a right to the “… peaceful enjoyment of your possessions”. (Article 1, Protocol 8 I think).
As long as you put the accent on ‘peaceful’ here I should think you would be entitled to your armament!
