10 points for an answer, any answers would be a big help
Robert Oppenheimer was born in NYC in 1904. he was the “father of the atomic bomb” because he came up with the whole idea.
David Bohm was born in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania in 1917 and did research on the theory of the atom for his college professor Oppenheimer.
Leo Szilard was born in Budapest, Austria in 1898 and he worked with Einstein to create the linear accelerator.
Eugene Wigner was born in 1902 in Budapest and he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1963 “for his contributions to the theory of the atomic nucleus and the elementary particles”
Otto Frisch was born in 1904 in Vieta Austria and he helped discovered that the collision of a neutron with a uranium nucleus produced the element barium as one of its byproducts.
Rudolf Peierls was born in 1907 in Berlin Germany. He helped derive the dispersion formula for nuclear reactors.
Felix Bloch was born in 1905 in Zurich Switzerland. He worked on nuclear power at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico.
Niels Bohr was born in Copenhagen Denmark in 1885 and he helped the understanding of atomic structure and quantum metaphysics.
Emilio Segre was from Tivoli Italy in 1905. he helped discover the element astatine and the isotope plutonium-239 which was used to make a big yellow atomic bomb called the fat man.
James Franck was from Hamburg Germany in 1882. he is best known for the compilation of the Franck Report, finished on 11 June 1945, which recommended not to use the atomic bombs on the Japanese cities, based on the problems resulting from such a military application.
Enrico Fermi is from Rome italy and was born in 1901. Fermi and his group made important contributions to many practical and theoretical aspects of physics. These include the theory of beta decay, with the inclusion of the neutrino postulated in 1930 by Pauli, and the discovery of slow neutrons, which was to prove pivotal for the working of nuclear reactors. His group systematically bombarded elements with slow neutrons, and during their experiments with uranium, narrowly missed observing nuclear fission.
Klaus Fuchs worked at the theoretical physiscs department at the los alamos national lab. he was born in russelsheim germany in 1911.
Edward Teller was born in the year Budapest Hungary in 1908. he was invited to be part of Robert Oppenheimer’s summer planning seminar at the University of California, Berkeley for the origins of the Manhattan Project, the Allied effort to develop the first nuclear weapons. A few weeks earlier, Teller had been meeting with his friend and colleague Enrico Fermi about the prospects of atomic warfare, and Fermi had nonchalantly suggested that perhaps a weapon based on nuclear fission could be used to set off an even larger nuclear fusion reaction.
