Russian Soviet

Any good soviet/russian movies on the war in Afghanistan?
Hello, does anyone know any films about the Soviet war in Afghanistan? I watched 9th company and I liked it, but I want something more ‘russian’ and less holywoody.
Thanks ![]()
Also, if anyone has any recommendations on russian films about the Chechen war, I will be very happy.
9th Company is a great film.
I haven’t seen it, but Peshavar Waltz (Пешаварский вальс), also known as Escape from Afghanistan, is based on real events, and is supposed to be very good. It is, as far as I know, the only other Soviet or Russian film about the war in Afghanistan.

The only films that I know about that show the Chechen wars are Prisoner of the Mountains, about a Russian soldier held captive by Chechens, and Voyna (War) – I haven’t seen this film, so I don’t know the plot.
