Is there reliable public transport from the Rapid City South Dakota airport to Badlands National Park?

I want to visit the Badlands, and would be flying into the nearest city (Rapid City, South Dakota), which is still 50 miles away. I don’t really want to rent a car at $50/day just for transport to and from the airport, so is there reliable public transportation that could get me there? A bus line, etc.?

There are several companies that offer tours of the Badlands, but I think you’ll find that most of them charge around $100 per person for the day. For that, you would get a tour guide through the badlands, Wall Drug, and the Air and Space Museum.

A second option would be to take a Greyhound bus to Wall Drug. A round trip ticket from Rapid City costs around $37, but that won’t give you a tour of the badlands and you would still need to take a taxi from the airport into Rapid City.

If you’re only going to be here for the day, renting a car may be your best option.

Have a great trip!
