Teen Age
Anyone have any info on how to break a teen age girl into modeling?
My 15 year old is interested in modeling. She is only 5’4″ I have noticed most are for taller girls. We live in the Detroit area. Not necessarily the hub of the modeling industry. Any words of wisdom?
She’ll probably have to wait. Very very few agencies will take girls that short. Runway models must be at least 5′ 8 and commercial models must be at least 5′ 6. Agencies are VERY strict when it comes to height. The only exception is Kate Moss, who is only 5′ 7 and got very lucky. Also, the average measurements for a model are 34-24-34 give or take an inch. Agencies are strict when it comes to this too. The closest well-known agency to Detroit would be either Ford or Elite Chicago or BMG Chicago. Elite has open calls during the week at 3:30. Hundreds, even thousands of girls may come, and they maybe 10 might get callbacks.
I forgot to add,modeling school and pageants are the WORST thing you can do if your serious about modeling. Agencies look down on that because they have to unteach whatever they taught.
