Wine Tasting Travel In France
Without a doubt one of the top reasons for visiting this great European nation is for its wine. France makes more wine than any other country in the world. In this article I have identified what I consider to be some of the top areas to visit when travelling to France.
If you want to mix your wine tasting journey up with some sightseeing then Provence is the place for you. The area boasts nice little medieval villages and was once a place of work for Vincent Van Gogh.
Pack your white wine glass if you’re on your way to Alasace on the East side of France. The varieties of grapes used in this region and the same as are used in the German wines across the border.
If you stop off in Bordeaux then you will need to make sure you have a red wine glass to hand. They do produce white wine in Bordeaux as well, which is famous for its sweetness. With an Atlantic coastline Bordeaux is able to easily export a lot of its wine.
The Burgandy region is equally split between the creation of white and red wine, so this is a good place to travel to if you want to experience a bit of eveything. In Burgandy the main wine produced is red wine. Beaujolais Nouveau is a wine produced in the area that can be consumed within the same year as its production.
Champagne is arguably the most well known wine producing region of France and is also the coldest. They do make still wine in this region but naturally the main wine produced is sparkling wine. They have a specially created Champagne glass to help you get the most out of this wine tasting experience.
The Loire Valley is a popular and beautiful tourist destination which also has some amazing wines produced along the river banks of the Loire River. Sauvignon Blanc is made in the Upper Loire valley.
