Vintage John Douglas Record Bowl Toilet/Circular Wall Tank Broken?
This vintage toilet/wall tank will not flush and the circular wall tank will not fill with water. I jiggled the handle and this doesn’t help. The flapper appears to be ok. Water appears to be running out of the “ball cock assembly” and then water is flowing into the toilet. So the toilet will not flush, the water will not stop running into the toilet and the wall tank will not fill with water. Please help! I am pretty awful with home repairs
I have no idea of what a Vintage John Douglas Record Bowl Toilet would look like, but if it’s got a wall hung tank, that uses a flapper ball to seal the hole in the bottom of the tank and the water continually runs from the tank into the toilet itself, wouldn’t that tell you that there’s obviously something wrong with the flapper ball, regardless of how it looks? You must have some way of shutting off the water flow to this toilet, so I would suggest that you do that and then take the flapper ball assembly out, take it with you to the hardware or home improvement store you like and get a new one. Take it home and install it and more than likely that will take care of your problem.
