Please help with English Project ideas?
For our English project, we have to think up a topic – a single statement, and explore it using novels, etc. I’m having trouble thnkig of a topic, so any ideas would be much appreciated.
Some examples are things like:
- Science fiction predicts the future
- Mental disabilities are discriminated against in society
- How national identity is portrayed or stereotyped through literature
- Writing in the Sixties politicised the Vietnam War/Civil Rights.
- ‘Do not be sad that you have suffered but be glad that you have lived’. (Joan Anglund Walsh) This philosophy toward life influenced her poetry.
Any ideas would be helpful. I just don’t know where to start.
I was thinking of doing something related to psychology, or religion (particularly buddhism, or similar), but the assignment is just too broad for me to really get any ideas. It’s worth 80% of our grade!
I could list lots of topics, but don’t know if that would really help you. What interests YOU? Philopsophy? Religion? Food? Sex?
The portrayal of women in popular media has influenced their treatment in society.
The image of the profession of nursing is sexualized, trivialized and cheapened by film and print media.
The portayal of religions other than Christianity has resulted in an increase in practice of those other religions.
Popular novels have impacted fashion.
Historical fiction tends to be less than accurate.
