Unique present for a volleyball coach’s 65th birthday
When varsity volleyball coach Bruce Anderson bid farewell to his seniors at his teams end of year award celebration, it also happened to be his 65th birthday. On that eventful day, he received a memorable 65th birthday present that was far more memorable than any volleyball trophy his players or fellow coaches could ever give him. He received a special CD filled with the voices of his colleagues, his graduating players, and their parents, expressing their thanks and warm wishes. The recordings ranged from funny to sentimental, and demonstrated to him what he had meant to the Fighting Tigers.
“I go out there and urge my players to give it their all every day. I’ve always focused on the team, and when they gave me this gift I saw how much my philosophy meant to them personally”.
The players and their parents wanted to give the coach a surprise present that was very personal. But, with frantic schedules, the players and their parents knew that the group gift would have to be simple for everyone to contribute to.
The CD the coach received is called LifeOnRecord.
Team mom, Kelly Burson, got the idea when her husband gave her a LifeOnRecord CD as a memorable birthday gift.
The process is simple: friends and family call a toll-free number and are directed to record a favorite memory, wish, or story. Theres no limit on the number of callers that can phone-in or on the total number of recordings you receive. The recordings can be downloaded for free using iTunes so that you can make your own CD, or LifeOnRecord can create a keepsake CD with a personalized label and metal case. An unlimited plan with free download capability into iTunes costs $49.99, or an unlimited plan with a keepsake CD costs $74.98.
It is a unique, affordable service that allows you to create a highly personal gift with ease.
“My players mean the world to me, and this is the perfect way for me to remember them and their impact after my coaching days are over. The mom who organized and put this together is my hero”.
If you’d like to be a hero to your loved one, you can purchase LifeOnRecord and give them a surprise birthday present.

The Pirates Of Penzance $17.72 Producer Joseph Papp’s Broadway spin on Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance cannily employs pop firepower in its casting, adding an inviting Yankee accent to roles normally associated with (and sometimes embalmed in) plummy English locution. Erstwhile country-rocker Linda Ronstadt, who by this point had already proven she could tackle pre-rock pop standards, stretches successfully as its … |

Broadway, My Way $4.42 The people who felt betrayed when Linda Eder covered several pop songs on 2002′s Gold will be relieved that her follow-up, Broadway My Way, is a return to the Great White Way. As if to prove that she isn’t limited to either the songs of Frank Wildhorn or ballads, Eder tackles some well-known show tunes. The ballads tend to be overwrought, so it’s best to look for the uptempo numbers. The singer’s … |
