War Era

how did America prepare for the cold war era 1960′s?
What did the average household do to prepare for the cold war era the 1960′s vietnam war?
The average household did not have to do anything to prepare for the Vietnam War of the Cold War era.
There never was any danger for the people of the United States in their own homes from the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The idea that Vietnam, as a communist nation, would threaten the security of South-east Asia, and beyond, to the Western World, and the United States was a fallacy. The whole preconception that once all of Vietnam was unified under the legitimate government in Hanoi, it would automatically lead to the smaller nations sharing borders with Vietnam “falling like dominoes” was a “nightmare scenario” used by ambitious American politicians to create the fear and distrust necesary to justify going to war. What the average household had to prepare itself for in the Vietnam War was the possibility that their son would be drafted to fight in an unjust, immoral, and unnecessary war in Vietnam that had nothing to do with protecting the United States or the American people’s way of life.
