Whitman Pub
My reoccurring dream of Mr. Poe. Any reason why you should comment?
“Edgar!”
He was walking with a slight limp, faking it
for a free drink
and his forehead was split
from pub glass
and strong words.
We were supposed to meet Whitman
in a yellow field at noon
but I called it off.
“You don’t scare anybody.”
“Bahhhh! Whitman awaits!!”
The blood had reached his white-furled neck wrap,
taking charge of the dream.
I tied him to an eyeless black horse
and followed behind him
in a rickshaw made of stone.
I must be high
because I skimmed
(yes skimmed)
my archives of
Bukowski and Williams
determined to find
this poem… (sans meter and rhyme).

and BEHOLD

months ago.
I shall yell
for a Tuk Tuk
made of ice cream
and melt in
my memories
and
