Largest Aviation Museum In The World In Dayton Ohio
The United States Air Force museum is the national museum of the U. S. Air Force and is the world’s largest military flight museum. Its mission is to present the mission, history and evolving capabilities of the U. S. Air Force.
Explaining the history of flight, the Air Force museum is an attraction that is internationally well-known.
The popular air and space museum welcomes over 1. 2 million visitors each year to observe the 17 acres of indoor displays that feature more than 300 different aircraft and aerospace machines.
The museum features galleries that connect today’s Space Age all the way back to the Wright brothers era.
Educational programs and various special events designed to tell the Air Force story are featured at the museum in addition to many sensory exhibits.
The Air Force also observes its men and women, highlighting such virtues as duty, innovation, and courage.
Dayton, Ohio, the town that the Wright brothers lived and invented their airplane in, is the location of the Air force museum.
Four gigantic hangar buildings at Dayton’s Wright-Patterson Air Force Base house the collection of displays. The museum is a must see, whenever you get to Dayton.
Even if you just have a slight interest in aircraft, NASA, or the military, you will certainly have a wonderful time. A visitor with a strong interest in aviation can easily spend two days exploring the vast museum.
The price of the admission cannot be beat, because it is absolutely free.
There are all kinds of airplanes there from every era in history, starting off with the very first of the bi-planes.
To tell its stimulating story, the museum uses chronological and subjective layouts to depict years of aviation development.
Exhibits include various aircraft and missiles like the Stealth fighter, the X-15 (history’s highest and the fastest flying aircraft), and the Super SR-71 spy-plane.
The museum also displays thousands of non-flying Air Force artifacts including personal memorabilia, photographs and uniforms.
An exhibit devoted to Prisoner of War history is one of the most popular at the museum.
This display features everything from homemade mousetraps to fitness exercise equipment that was fabricated by the prisoners in WWII prison camps.
Around the museum you can also see Harley-Davidson motorcycles, bugles and cooking utensils that were once used by the Air Force.
Had the Air Force ever had used an Ibanez acoustic electric guitar or a 5 piece drum set, you would definitely see them here.
A marvelous excursion for the entire family, this incredible museum is an excessively interesting place to visit.
